Canola vs. Vegetable Oil

There are some nutritional differences between canola and vegetable oil. Canola oil is a product of the rapeseed. It also belongs to the family of low saturated and polysaturated saturated fats. Canola is also high in Omega 3 fatty acids that are known to aid in the reduction of bad cholesterol.

Vegetable oil is a blend of oils that contain traces of corn, cottonseed, rapeseed, safflower and soybean oils. Because of all the blending, this oil is not low in saturated and polysaturated fats. Vegetable oil is intended to be a neutral oil that is lacking in strong flavors like other oils that you will find. Vegetable oil is great if you are looking for light oil with little flavor.

Both oils are light and perfect for almost all cooking methods and can be used as a base for salad dressings.  Interchanging them in recipes will not have an effect on the outcome of the product.  When it comes down to it the choice is yours between the two oils so enjoy!
